Meilikki's Rest
A small village, even by elven standards, Meilikki's Rest is arrayed around an ancient oak called the Grandmother tree. Dozens of elves call it home, and they're led by the druid Qyri of the Oak.
Villagers tend to herds of deer, and have a great relationship the local squirrel population who aid them in harvesting nuts and berries from around the forest. In return, the villagers provide safety and shelter for the squirrels in the colder months.
Demographics
All the permanent residents of Meilikki's Rest are elves, with most of those being Wood Elves. Sometimes it plays host to small trading parties, and at the Spring Equinox they play host to beings from the Feywild.
Government
The village has no real government, with everybody chipping in to help each other when needed. For any larger projects, such as inhabiting a new tree, they look to the eldest druid among them as they know the forest the best. This druid also mediates any disputes between villagers, but that is seldom needed.
Defences
Thick walls of thorns surround the village on the ground, growing a dozen yards thick in some places. Otherwise, every member of the village is a skilled hunter and can handle a bow nearly as soon as they can walk.
History
Founded as a minor enclave of Mhiilamniir, the village was originally intended to be a watch post for the forest in this region. It was also positioned here to tendto the dozens of Goodberry bushes that grew around the base of the Grandmother Tree.
As the centuries rolled by, the village grew slowly from a dozen members to nearly five hundred. Until the demonic incursions from Hellgate Keep exploded into an invasion of the forest. Mhiilamniir was razed, and Meilikki's rest did not escape unscathed. Several of their ancient trees were felled when demons came, and hundreds died protecting the Grandmother Tree.
In the scant few centuries since that darkest time, the elves have tried to rebuild, but it is a slow process and elves have long memories.
Architecture
The elves don't fell trees for their tools, nor do they for their homes. Instead their elders sing to the trees and ask for shelter, for materials, and for food. The trees, eager to aid their constant friends and companions, grow homes out of their trunks and weave branches together with their neighboruing trees to make bridges between homes.
Natural Resources
The forest provides food a plenty for the inhabitants of the village, and the trees are always happy to provide branches for bows and staves.
Surrounding the Grandmother tree are dozens of bushes heavy with Goodberries, and hanging from the ancient oaks branches are thick knots of miseltoe.
