The Tellurian Diaspora Adventure in the Age of Space Sail

Created by

Editorial Team

Human colonization of space has been underway for 500 years. Initially, the colony ships leaving Tellus/Earth were mostly one-way, then transuranic-powered tachyon supralight drives reconnected the early colonies and unleashed a Second Wave of colonization. Then (about 300 years ago) the Klavangi encountered humankind, introducing kirons (What are Kirons?) and sails for flow-pressure FTL propulsion, initiating the Great Migration.

The Tellurian Diaspora is where the stories happen. Adventures with sailing ships traveling the spaceways, humans and other beings encountering uncharted territories, fighting battles, trading in exotic ports, encountering all the cultures and kinds of worlds humans colonized.

The Tellurian Diaspora on World Anvil has the history, the background materials and articles, maps, and materials to enrich the stories, and allows you to read the stories online here. Future plans include audiofiles for the stories, too! First story up is Midshipman Fuzzball. All Felix has ever wanted is to go to space in the big flow-pressure ships of the Tellurian Navy. Maybe become a Captain, someday. Even a Leader of Beings. There's just one problem: Felix is a cat. The only Sentient Citizen cat in the Tellurian Federation, maybe the whole Diaspora.

"Sixteen hours later I was in a Naval shuttle, being transferred to a corvette that was leaving the next day for Feria Jacinta and the Naval Academy. They had been more than a little surprised when I checked in.

"The shuttle’s Manifest Officer had leaned over his counter to see where the voice was coming from, and jerked back, startled, when I leapt gracefully to the surface of the counter. “Midshipman Candidate Felix Lafitte reporting for transport.” His eyes goggled. “A CAT?”
