Basic Information

Anatomy

Fauns have goat like legs with cloven hooves and a small tail, about 15-20cm long. They also have short fur from the hips and down, in similar colour to the hair on their heads.
Male fauns have antlers of varying kind. The first pair starts growing during puberty, and are then shed once a year. The size of the antlers, and number of prongs, increase throughout their lives, but one antler rarely grows any larger than two spread out hands.
Only about 20% of all faun women have antlers. These are usually much smaller than a man's.

Biological Traits

Hair

Most common colours are brown and blond, but red and grey can also be found. The hair is usually very thick with a rough texture. Curls are common. Beard growth is very common among men.

Eyes

Eye colours are usually on the brown spectrum, going from nearly black to gold. They have large iris and sideways pupils.

Ears

Ears are animal like, and covered in short, soft fur. They have high mobility and a wide range of emotional expression.

Fauns are omnivores, although it is very common for them to be vegetarians or vegans.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Since male fauns shed their antlers each year, many uses have been found for them. It is mostly tools, jewelry or glue.

The more symmetrical a man's antlers are, the more attractive he is, in general.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

Headbutting

Fauns and Satyr use headbutting as a form of greeting, similar to many other races' handshake. For strangers it's appropriate to grab each other's forearms and to lightly tap their foreheads together. Between friends it's most common to grab each other's shoulders and tap foreheads with slightly more force, and/or to press foreheads together for a few seconds. Gently touching foreheads and rub noses is seen as a more intimate gesture and is usually done between family members or partners.

Common Taboos

It is generally seen as rude to touch or grab someone else's horns/antlers without permission. And to take someone else's antlers and put them on display is seen as a great insult.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Fauns and Satyr have always been culturally close and have always coexisted with each other. Seeing a family of both fauns and satyrs is very commonplace.
Fauns have had rather little contact with Harpy and what contact they have had throughout history has usually been neutral trading relations.

Average Height

Women: 130-150cm or 160-180cm, depending on body type.
Men: 135-155cm or 170-200cm, depending on body type.

Average Physique

There are two main body types; one small and petite and one tall and broad. That is not to say that they are not still very diverse.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking

Light to medium brown skin. Sometimes slightly reddish. Different markings are common and are either white, or a darker/lighter shade than the majority of their skin or fur.
