Personal history
Born and raised in Craghold, Elyn is the daughter of a tavern owning mother and a Dungeoneer father. She trained to be a fighter from a young age, watching her father at the dungeon and eventually training with him and the others. By the time she was old enough to choose her profession, she was already as skilled as most members of the Dungeoneers. She was soon leading teams of her own, and was expected to be one of the best.
Volcanic activity had opened a new entrance to the underdark near Ugrok Ghul. Elyn's team was hired to explore it, and see whether it opened any additional trade routes. Due to it's proximity to known areas, the team was sent in as trailblazers rather than a war party, and were unprepared for what they found. A pit fiend had crossed over, and brought various lesser demons with it. Her people were slaughtered, and Elyn barely escaped with her life. She was able to rally more Dungeoneers to the scene, and they defeated the devil and closed whatever rift let it through in the first place.
Afterwards, Elyn left the Dungeoneers. No one blamed her, but she was shaken by the death of the team. She took her earnings and traveled along the Silverbeard and Viridian rivers, looking for meaning. She eventually met Aakal Ebenezer Venfaren in Corellum - he sought her out to offer her entrance to the Circle. She agreed, finding purpose in seeking out the evil he foresaw. She has been fighting their battles ever since, and she thinks about that first team every time she enters another fight.
Gender Identity
The dwarves of Craghold have several cultural differences with most dwarves, including how much they express gender. Elyn is clearly recognizable as female to other races.
