Tassel Frass
Warning! Spoilers ahead!!
As writers, outsiders think that we "create" our stories, but the truth is, the best of us "discover" them. Uncovering piece by piece what is hidden under layers and layers of earth. Letting it become what it wants to be and letting the characters decide for themselves who they are.
This is just how Tassel Frass came into the story. I didn't even know she existed until she made her herself known. The herbalist bunny who (with the help of her neighbors) saved my life. She had so much faith in me that she was willing to risk her life to save mine. Caring for me and watching the rest of the forest die while I sat by and did nothing.
She knew more than I did about being a writer. More about being a god than I did at the time. Her caring hands showed me much kindness and to pay her back I planning a wonderful life for her and her practice. That is the nice thing about being an all powerful being, you can repay people in the best and worst ways. If only my power extended into the world I live in, people might not treat me as they do.
I did not plan for Tassel to ever be apart of this story, but so it always is with making new friends. I am grateful for her courage and will never forget the time we spent together, the last two living creatures in the Thicket.

*whispers* Finn Deedly is my muse. He tells a great tale and often encourages me to continue writing. "The only story that fails, my dear, is the one that never gets written!" Although, I argue that there have been a few stories that made me wonder why the manuscript never made it into the trash. Writing is an excavation; at times, we often don't understand the underlying theme until we see it through the eyes of our characters. The theme is akin to discovering the nature of the story. And learning the answer to that question leads to another important question. What is the need that drives the characters to do what they do?
So true! So true!! Finn Deedly is a wise wise fellow!
