Labyrinthine Hedge
A demonic, sentient hedge often found in castle gardens as a form of passive defense.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Labyrinthine Hedge isn't too far removed in appearance from hedges found in other realms - it grows close to twenty feet tall, and has rounded green leaves. It's also capable of flowering, and has two kinds of blossoms - yellow flowers that produce a pollen that causes confusion in most mammals, and benign white flowers.
Dietary Needs and Habits
One of the tamer demonic plants, Labyrthine Hedges gain nutrients through symbiosis with other plants rather than actively hunting prey. It creates a shared root system that can spread a good distance out from the main plant itself.
Behaviour
In addition to befuddling pollen, the Labyrinthine Hedge takes its name from its ability to shift itself around. It can create pathways to more dangerous plants, or simply trap prey until it becomes too weak to escape. Its movement is limited around the core of the hedge, which is not able to move while maintaining its roots.
Additional Information
Domestication
Current Labyrthine Hedges were domesticated from their wild counterparts, which are far more mobile - but smaller and less potent by comparison. Wild Hedges tend to hunt by exhausting their prey through endless walking, rather than working with other plants.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
The Labyrinthine Hedge utilizes photoreceptors and limited touch capabilities to sense its surroundings.
