Lace of Bone Feathers

The Bone Feather plants are known as such because they look like bones growing out of the ground, their stems like a spinal column which twists and turns, and then gives place to a macabre rib-cage. They are very hard to break, surprisingly, but once one touches these bone-like leaves, they are actually soft as feathers. These qualities are what made people interested in attempting to weave them to make clothing - they're soft, yet durable, they are a contradiction like the Feywild itself.   The process to turn a Bone Feather into lace which can be used in clothing is fairly complicated. These leaves are hard to break, and therefore hard to take apart as well. They are actually made of very thin strands, like proper feathers, and once you find the right place to pull you can unweave them into threads. The problem is, of course, finding said place, the beginning of the thread. Many spend hours, even days looking for it. These threads are then twisted and turned into fine fibers which can be used as an outer layer for clothing. Given their durability and resistance to most materials, though, this is a arduous process which must be done by hand, or with the help of magic.   One of the most sought out qualities of this lace is that once woven, it is still hard as armor, as it was in its natural state, and beautiful as any other lace, shimmering slightly when light hits it, and soft and comfortable as if it were a normal cloth. Many Fey use it as an outer layer on their beautiful dresses and garments, an extra protection in case anyone has some nefarious plans in mind. Daggers, swords, arrows, and other such weapons, cannot cut through this lace, and although the impact of a weapon might still leave a bruise behind, normal, non-magical weapons will not be able to cut through these threads.   The stems are also used in clothing: as the structure for corsets, underskirts, bustles, hats, jackets, and many other objects used in varied circumstances, like tents, containers, or even zeppelins, balloons, and other vehicles.   Although the Bone Feathers aren't rare, craftspeople who know how to properly weave their leaves are, which means that ultimately the resulting lace is extremely expensive, and uncommon. Many important Fey, such as Archfey and sidhe, or even adventurers, will have several garments (if not all) that have this outer layer, which is almost indistinguishable from any other type of lace, but it's not something that is easily obtained by the common people of the Feywild.
