The Beginning of Shifting Tides
After the last fall of Crying Heavens caused by a breakdown of leadership and inevitable destruction under Lord Mortis Nuntius. The citizens of Crying Heavens decided to abandon the land that was cursed for 1000 years. Upon their exodus, they decided it was time to abandon the old flag of blood and rain. The populace argued and fought over the name over which their would be a new foundation. Some thought of broader opinions, some more selfish, such as Commodore Morgan’s Pirate Bay (and or wacky Water Park). In the end, after much debate and debacle, a new flag was risen, the flag of Shifting Tides.
The name Shifting Tides was given to the populace due to their inability to conform with the Kingdoms usual atrocities. They knew that they were people that were always to go against the tide and therefore, slowly shift them. As such they hung the crescent moon over the waves of the ocean which guides the waters outward.
Shifting Tides has had its own internal strife in the past. The Wolf Pack run by Wulfric had caused a stir among the people and there was a brief shift and divide, conflicted by Mortis and his people. They eventually ran the wolves into the woods, from which they were not heard from for some time. They did return however and Wulfric has been one of the head leaders of the citizens that rested there. Since their exodus, Shifting Tides has grown exponentially. Becoming one of the biggest groups in Neverwinter history, Shifting Tides was promoted to a Duchy status by his majesty king Nocturne.
Shifting Tides upon reaching a Duchy status has made a trade and alliance treaty with Twilight Moon, one of their closest neighbors, signed by Duke Wulfric, and at the time Baron Duskan, agreed upon and witnessed by Nii-Nii the Green. The Treaty has held strong over the past few years.
This treaty was further upheld by the War of Woe, in which brave and possibly insane wizard Woetan had called upon a destruction of the famous and powerful fighting company The Seraphem Angels, and the King at the time Sir Kelevra 7Shires. Many brave men, under the charismatic charm of Grog Alestorm, had joined Woetan, at his inevitable destruction, though some say this was due to Grog’s own allegiance more than the treaty itself. Still it was a glorious though horrific battle. Some say one of the most influential of the time. Kelevra and the Seraphim were victorious, but the allegiance was still upheld. Thus the treaty still stays strong.
Magical beasts have also been known to invade Shifting Tides (along with the typical bandits). During one strange day, there was a giant grasshopper who had invaded who was believed to had his eggs stolen, broken, and/or eaten. Upon declaring who dare desecrated his would be children, he was assaulted, and thus DESTROYED NEARLY THE ENTIRE PLATOON OF SHIFTING TIDES MEMBERS). Those who came back and looked upon the creature with maddened intent, decided to instead, attempt a diplomatic resolution. By sacrificing one would be insane attacker, and thus sating his bloodlust. The creature then leaped into another realm, yet to be seen of again.
There is also an accountance of a mythical Mind-feesh and of course The White Rabbit. There was a day of cake and festivities, though apparently whoever ate the cake of rabbit, or flesh of fish, was converted to each side respectively. One of the made head priests of the Mind Feesh was a man named Jon, who praised him in his scaly goodness, he had led and converted the great followers of the Mind-feesh and named them in their presence, including a Captain Nemo. Blessings be upon the glorious mind-feesh and his holy fins… The war between the two sides was something that could be described as a slobber-knocker between cultists. Though oddly enough not many remember what exactly transpired between the two, though in this humble bards opinion, the Mind-feesh, praise his orange toned scales, was the inevitable victor.
Shifting Tides. A place where weird stuff happens because the gods love us more than the rest of you.
