Denmark

Denmark is a country in Northern Europe. Denmark proper, which is the southernmost of the scandinavian countries, consists of a peninsula, Jutland, and an archipelago of 443 islands. The Kingdom of Denmark comprises Denmark proper and two autonomous territories: the Faroe Islands and Greenland

Denmark has been a constituational monarchy since 1849, governed by the Danish parliament. Home rule was established in the Faroe Islands in 1948, and in Greenland in 1979.

Denmark ranks highly in education, health care, protection of civil liberties, democratic governance and LGBT equality. It is a founding member of NATO, the Nordic Council, and the United Nations. Denmark also has close ties to its Scandinavian neighbours linguistically, as the Danish language is partially mutually intelligible with both Norwegian and Swedish.
