IX - Prospero, The Miser of Magic

Prospero, Archmage of the Gods, is the god of magic, arcane knowledge, divination, and balance. He has little or no interaction with any of the other gods, and his interests in regards to the mortal world revolve around the art of magic; not only seeing it maintained, but expanded.

Prospero is most concerned with the collection and cataloging of all things magical. Be it spells, potions, or magic items - he collects them all and displays them in his great library. Due to this archival nature he is especially interested in the actions of inventors and those at the forefront of their field. For it is believed he contacts those who create novel inventions of magic, offering a blessing or gift in exchange for their creation.

Although Prospero doesn't have many formal churches in his name, he can often be found in the prayers of those seeking the knowledge of magic. Whether it be a novitiate wizards studying for their exams or archeologists attempting to understand secrets long forgotten, Prospero may just share what he knows to those who ask.

Appearance

Prospero is usually portrayed as a middle aged human man with white hair who wears purple robes. He is known to carry the very first Staff of the Magi with him at all times. In addition, he knows every spell ever created and can travel to any time and dimension. He is the possessor of the only magical library that contains a copy of every potion, spell, and magic item in existence. While he has gathered such a large collection of magical rarities, he abstains from using any of them, especially when it would damage or consume the item.
