XIV - Alinta, Dancer of Flames

Alinta is the living embodiment of fire. Her sensual movements to an unheard song luring those heedless of the danger in, where they are burned by her passionate embrace. However, there’s no malevolence in these acts, for they are simply in the goddess’ nature. To many, Alinta plays the part of muse, inspiring minstrels and poets with her unobtainable beauty and passion for self expression. To others, her tales are those of caution and reservation. A warning to think before acting not blindly give into your emotions. By her domain, Alinta is one of the most divisive of the gods. As many tend to have passionate and contrasting opinions of her.

She is often heralded as the goddess of the arts and dancers are said to hold a special place in Alinta's fiery heart. For their movements often mimic those of the goddess herself. This passion for artistic expression extends to her temples whose interiors are decorated with lavish colors, vibrant silks and painted murals. Those among her clergy often devote themselves to the pursuit of one or more artistic mediums, as they believe these acts to bring them closer to their god. While these keepers of the flame know the fire passion the goddess offers, they have learned to keep themselves from being burned by the their own excess.

Temples to Alinta aren't welcome in every city, as many reserved communities tend to hold an ill opinion of the Dancing Flame's temples. They believe them to be dens of ill-repute and say that they are a corrupting influence on the community at large. While these opinions are obviously not the whole story, there is a grain of truth in these claims.

Appearance

Alinta is often portrayed as a beautiful woman composed entirely of living flames. Her flickering body swaying and twirling in a dance reminiscent of a candle's flame. In mortal depictions of the goddess, she appears as a feminine fire genasi clothed in attire befitting a belly dancer, bedazzled with brass tassels and silks of red, yellow and orange.
