The Pinecone Trackers - Troop 002

The Pinecone Trackers is a group in which the kids of Maple River can learn survival skills and about the nature around them.
Currently the troop leader, is Sheryl Dubois and her troop consists of six "pinecones" from the ages of eight to sixteen. Together this group goes on camping trips and day hikes into the tall pines that surround the town of Maple River.
This is the second reincarnation of the Pinecone Trackers since it's creation in 1936.
When Sheryl Dubois introduced the idea of bringing back the Pinecone Trackers in the summer of 2016 she was immediately met with push back. Many believed it to be in poor taste seeing that the summer of 2016 was the 50 year anniversary of the disappearance of the first Pinecone Trackers troop.
The disappearance of the first Pinecone Trackers is one of the greatest mysteries of the Tall Pines, even though Harvey Bell would argue that it's just the tip of the iceberg.
On a warm foggy summer morningin the year 1966, the Pinecone Trackers and there fearless leader Richard Thomas entered the Tall Pines. This was their monthly weekend camping trip into the forests surrounding the town. The parents of the Pinecone Trackers, all twelve of them, said their goodbyes to their children. They all watched as they troop marched into the foggy forest, not realizing this would be the last time anyone would see any of them ever again.
The manhunt for the troop lasted months and in the end the only thing that was ever found was an abandoned campsite and footprints scattered around as if everyone was panicking.
Even with the push back Sheryl reinstated the Pinecone Trackers and her numbers have grown over the last couple of years. They still have not gone camping in the Tall Pines but instead she teaches survival skills and goes "mock" camping in the grounds around the Maple River highschool.

Equipment

Sheryl pays everything out of pocket and the group is severely under equipped. Sheryl does a good job at using what they do have though.
