Baldur's Gate

Baldur's Gate, also known as The Gate, is a large metropolis on the Sword Coast, located to the south of Waterdeep and north of Amn. The strong peace-keeping force known as the Watch, along with the presence of the powerful Flaming Fists mercenary company, keeps the city generally peaceful and safe. This inherent sense of security allows the Gate to keep a tolerant and welcoming attitude towards outsiders, whether they are wealthy merchants, poor refugees or, as it historically attracted, less-scrupulous individuals such as pirates and smugglers. Baldur's Gate is ruled by The Council of Four - a group of four powerful so-called Dukes elected into the position for life. The most senior of these was named Grand Duke. At present these are:
