Chosen

The Chosen are those who have been selected by a deity to be imbued with their power.  This was done for various reasons, but is generally a reward (or punishment, depending on who you ask) and puts the creature in question in the position of being an agent of that god.  The powers of the chosen, and the number of them that exist vary from deity to deity, but there are generally one or two.  A notable exception is the god Ubtao, who up until the city of Mezro was destroyed had seven chosen, called barae, at any given time.

Chosen do not need to humanoid, any sentient creature can be imbued with the power of a god.  Some well known chosen include the many Chosen of Mystra over the years (Elminster Aumar, Laeral Silverhand, Manshoon, Khelben Arunsun), Catti-brie (Chosen of Mielikki), and Torlin Silvershield (Chosen of Bhaal).
