Conservation Status:
Only domesticated Quetzal Jackals exist as humans eradicated them from the wild.

Genetics & Reproduction:
Quetzal Jackals breed every two years in early to mid Pine season. Females have up to six puppies in early to mid Bay season. The puppies can be sold, given away, or traded off after two years, and these creatures reach sexual maturity at five years of age.

Growth Rate & Stages:
These puppies grow slowly until they are two years old, at which point they begin growing an inch every month until they reach the max size at five years of age.

Ecology & Habitat:
These creatures thrive in homes where there is an obvious and firm leader and where there is a need for them in farm protection, personal protection, or hunting. When protecting the farm livestock, they will walk around the fence line of each corral, sniffing to ensure nothing has gone through the fencing and intermittently marking the fence with urine.

Dietary Needs & Habits:
Years of training and domestication have taught this creature the difference between hunting and being threatened. As one of the two top predators in the world, Quetzal Jackals are carnivorous in nature but will not eat the meat of its kill when hunting for its owner. When threatened by a Greywolf Hound, the Quetzal Jackal can hold its ground and will eat the carcass if it wins.

Biological Cycle:
In Cherry season, Quetzal Jackals lose handfuls of their heavy coat, growing it back in late Pine season to protect them from the cold of Orchid season.

High intelligence, but require firm commands and an obvious leader.

Perception & Sensory Capabilities:
The long nose and large eyes give the Quetzal Jackal an enhanced sense of smell and sight.

Humans call this creature the Quartz Kingbear.
