Stimulant. The nut, when chewed, releases a stimulant that helps with exhaustion while calming the nerves. By using it, the user treats exhaustion levels as one step lower, and gets a +1 to either Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma rolls.
Addiction. There is a relatively high chance that the user can become addicted to this substance. After using this on 5 consecutive times, the user has to make a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or becomes addicted requiring the use of the nut regularly. They have to make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw once a month in game, or risk developing cancer, leading to a drop in Strength, Dexterity & Constitution of 4 1d6+1 , and a drop in permanent hit points equivalent to 2 1d4 .

Areca Nut, or more commonly known as Betel Nut, is a fruit that contains compounds similar to nicotine, and used primarily in Asia with parts of east Africa also using it.
