Celestial Metal

Celestial metal is a type of ore rarely ever found in the Material Planes. When it is, it is usually found in regions where great deeds were done by holy men & women, or by Celestials. It is sometimes shot through with gold, and silver in designs resembling veins. To be of use, it has to be worked similarly to adamantine, yielding items the same strength, the same weight, and even more effective against certain creatures. All of this with the ability to work in elements of gold & silver easily.

History

Celestial metal is thought to have first formed in the heavens when the first gods of good took their seats of power. It is theorised it is the deity's power made manifest in a form of powerful mineral form, and used by legendary smiths or moulded by the will of a deity for use by themselves or Celestials in their service. There has always been rumours since early times by many of the ancients that the metal is extremely powerful, and when a Celestial dies in service of it's master on the Material Plane it leaves an amount of itself behind in this form. There is a few who try to track down the earliest records of this to find sources of this. Also in these stories a few of the most holiest mortals leave behind traces too of it when they pass on.
Dragons, giants, and Yuan-Ti regularly seek it out to give themselves advantages, though the former two rarely can use it directly, and it harms the latter. Other early races know of it, and seek it for some look to use it to protect against or wipe out evil. Each time it is found, only 0.5 lbs is enough to start a war over.
