Coracle
Coracles are small one man boats used primarily in Wales, the West Country of Britain, Ireland and Scotland. Similar boats are used regularly in Vietnam, Iraq, India, and Tibet. The word originally comes from the Welsh word 'Cwrwg', and related to the Irish & Scottish Gealic word 'Currach'.
They are usually made of willow, with willow rods for shape and bark for the basic walls & floor. Horse or Bullock hide is regularly used to cover the underside to act as a non-leak buffer. Where possible, tar is used to cover a thin layer on it to help keep it from leaking. They are regularly made with a flat bottom, or keel-less, to allow them to operate on rivers. This appears to be the primary purpose of coracles.
Easily manoeuvred with one hand, barely disturbing the water, and using a broad bladed paddle, it can be used to fish without disturbing the water.
