Crossbows have a body with which a bow-like structure is built on to one end. To fire the bowstring is usually pulled back (with a foot in a basic metal strap, and the string grasped with both hands) to a holder, and a bolt put in place against the string. When ready to fire it is aimed and the trigger pulled to release the bolt.
