Hrunting is the sword that was given to Beowulf, by Unferth that was annealed in venom. It was used initially in the fight against Grendel's Mother but failed to work. It is thought that it was cursed due to Unferth not being able to slay Gredel's Mother, and carried over to Beowulf.
