Marriage
Marriage at this time is exclusively between a male & a female of the same social class, in many societies & cultures. Any marriage between anybody else is generally looked down on, if not with outright hostility. In some societies, this could even result in banishment or execution. Most of the cases of marriage is set up between families with a dowry being paid from one family to another, usually from the bride's family to the grooms. This can be kept even if both parties separate or divorce. The usual age range would be determined by when the children hits puberty, and can range from boys as young as 14, and from girls as young as 12 being recorded in some states.
In many regions the people to be married needs permission from the local noble who controls the region, whether a burgomaster, a Shire Reeve, or even the local clergy. Any of these can officiate such a ceremony, and register the wedding. They can also stop the wedding if they feel it is not the best interest of themselves, the individuals & families, the church or other religion, had taken a monastic vow, or any other number of reasons.
