Slavery

Slavery is still practiced in many parts of the world. It has drastically reduced in Europe amongst Christianized lands, due to the Church ruling that slavery is wrong & people should be free, and in many cultures it has been replaced with serfdom. In many countries individuals have stopped it such as St Patrick, Hywel the Good, and Bathilde, the queen of the Franks about 200 years prior.   Slavery and the slave trade is still strong in many countries around central Europe, with the Vikings taking slaves to sell outside of Europe, and use by themselves. The Italians eventually will come round to not selling Christians to Islamic states that practice it. The latter gets many from Africa, and exports to the Far East, where the people are seen as much as exotic pets as much as they are slaves. Venice, and southern Italy are two of the biggest European slave traders.   Jewish merchants have a large trading network of slave trading in Europe although the Papacy has placed a ban on them using Christians as slaves for themselves, with the belief that they might convert to Judaism. They are large in scope trading far and wide over Europe and along the Silk Road. They are sometimes referred to as Radhanites.   Slaves are a commodity for the British Isles and the Moors of Iberia.   Slavery is also found in other cultures in Europe, or at least below Europe. Societies, like the Black Elves, make extensive use of slaves, and many of the evil cultures that mimic them follow the same practice.
