Spanish / Iberian Peninsula

During the 9th century the majority of the Iberian peninsula is under the control of the Moors, a mix of Arabic & Bedouin Muslins. Caliph Al-Walid I controls the peninsula and is part of the Umayyad Caliphate (at the time the strongest Caliphate). Despite this, there is strong Spanish resistance to them, and many locals are descended of native Spanish, Roman Empire remnants and Visigoth tribes (who had settled in the regions a number of years before). These ethnic groups have been at war in some form or fashion now for near 100 years.    Surprisingly, for some, the north west corner of Iberia has a strong Celtic presence that still affects the outlook and personality of the peoples living there. This, so far, has led the whole of Iberia to be a mix of different ethnicities and not all are able to work together for the greater good of the country.    Quite a bit of differing technology levels can be found as well, mainly due to where a person or tribal group comes from.
