The Reborn - The Tragic Second Chance

Reborn are humans & humanoids who are given a second chance at life. They are a form of revenant that is created, usually from the parts or whole of their body, whether from magic, science, or warped forms of resurrection. Each has a number of different traits that function the same way. Some are the stitched together parts of themselves with other body parts & shocked back to life. Others have parts missing and spectral elements to their flesh or in place of. Yet more have the bare minimum of themselves left if at all, trapped in mechanical golem-like bodies. In each case they have the same spark of their soul in themselves, and the drive to right wrongs, find out about themselves, and keep themselves hidden away at all costs.
The appearance of one is usually the first step of a path of vengeance to stop this happening to others, and to avenge their transformation. Most of the time, mages, artificers and the like create a Reborn just to see what powers can restore the dead. This leaves a victim in a limbo of sorts, of still living, and not in a way they wanted, and yet unable to die like a normal person would. If the experimenter is not stopped there and then, the Reborn will try to hunt them down first, then seek out others trying to do the same.
In many cases the Reborn is rejected by society, partly due to his or hers appearance, and partly since said person should be dead. Many of them rage at this due to the effect of this, that they are also now outcasts of society. Many take up adventuring in the long run, taking down real or perceived threats before they do harm. When first encountered they are usually pathetic creatures due to what happened to them. Also, a few would seem to have a death wish, and rarely any fear of dying again. A few see it as a chance to redeem themselves before the inevitability of death comes.
