Tidal Mill

The tidal mills have been used on the Irish coastal areas since the 6th Century. Two main waterwheel types have been used, and regularly uses the effects of the tide to power them. Vertical waterwheels are one type where the tide drops & powers it, and twin-flumed horizontal waterwheels is another type, with it running again when the tide moves in or out.
