Ulfberht Sword
Weapon
Very Rare
Versatile (1d10+1)
Ulfberht swords are a rare and highly effective long swords. Though the origins of they're construction and materials are not 100% known, they seem to have been produced somewhere in the Frankish kingdom. The material seems to share many traits with the steel known as Damascus Steel, making it hold a razor-sharp edge longer & better than most weapons. Also, this makes them stronger and more durable than most too.
There is thought to only be about 170 such swords in existence, each with what looks like the makers name placed low on the blade near the hilt (+VLFBERH+T or +VLFBERHT+). A rumour persists that there is fake swords around that are made with cheap steel, that are weaker and blunter.
The only thing an owner needs to do is to get the hilt, handle and pommel made & applied to the blade. This allows for more personalisation of the weapon.
