Warriors of the One True Cross

The Warriors of the One True Cross is a group of professional fighters of different regions dedicated to fighting against evil. They are found primarily in regions with Christian communities, and carry out these duties to defend Christianity & these communities.  Each warrior has to swear an oath to a priest of any Christian denomination, and to defend any type of Christian community no matter what variation the community is. The three main backers of this organisation is the Roman Catholic Church, the Eastern Orthodox Church, and the Coptic Church. Some other minor variants back it too. They churches provide safe houses, food & drink, medical services, equipment, and documents if and when they can to help the warriors. Most of the warriors are fighters, though a few are barbarians, clerics, the odd paladin, thieves, and rangers. Magic users are usually frowned upon though their services can be employed, especially in cases where their talents can be of exceptional use.
It has operated so far for roughly 100 years, and the numbers passing through have gone up & down in that time depending on what has been happening in the world. They are always willing to look out for other possible candidates, and the members make a point of extolling the virtues of fighting against beings who would bring down Christianity.
They are usually paid a bounty per job upon completion, and regularly allowed to keep a portion of any equipment and items they find. Any money found is theirs to keep, though the organisation always makes mention of a 'small' donation' to a church or other religious group is more than welcome.
