Personal history

Erik Redwind isn’t sure when or where he was born. He was kidnapped before he was old enough to remember anything, and taken to a secret facility somewhere in Scotland, where he was enhanced and trained to kill. Whenever he asked his carers why he was there, or where he came from, their answer was always the same - he had shown ‘psychic potential’, and they needed him for a higher cause: “The Purpose”. Over the years, their experiments and psychic enhancements became more and more dangerous - until one day he completely lost the ability to hear. Tori, his closest friend and anchor, helped him through these times, and again when he lost his voice - permanently. They never left each other’s side and, thanks to their ‘kill or be killed’ training, killed whoever tried to tear them apart. When they later worked out that killing was exactly what their holders wanted them to do, they stopped, allowing themselves to be seperated - secretly speaking telepathically at night.
Erik’s first kill (to his knowledge) was a little girl called Angela, who had all but lost most of her senses to the experiments and was made to fight Erik and his squad. It was a test of strength and obedience, and Erik passed with flying colours.
It was this that sparked Erik's desire to leave. Though he had been convinced that he had no place in the world; nowhere he could survive now he was an abomination, he couldn't stay here knowing they could all be picked off one by one. When Tori fought to escape the facility, he followed her lead, and after a long time they finally broke free. Persued by their captors, Tori made a risky move that paid off -- she teleported them away at random, landing them by a pretty lake in Scotland; and it is under that lake where they built their new home.
