Jackson was formed some time around Josh's early adulthood, shortly before escaping the Facility. He knows little of his life and past, but considers himself Josh's "social twin" and is happy with that identity. As a result, Jackson can be difficult to differentiate from Josh, but holds a thick Texan accent and carries himself with more confidence and casual cheer than Josh does.
Mental Trauma
SPOILERS FOR RECKLESS TRUTH
Jackson remembers less than Josh does about their past -- he knows of it, but sees it as a part of Josh and not his own experiences. Thus, Jackson is the happier, more confident alter within the system and carries very little of the sadness Josh does. As a result, he is far more likely to be present when Josh is having a depressive episode, carrying on their lives while Josh rests it off.
