Goblin Dog

Few creatures inspire as much disgust as the Goblin Dog. Its mangy, hairless skin covered in pustules and sores is enough to make any seasoned adventurer gag. With beady red eyes and oversized, slavering jaws, these creatures are the perfect embodiment of goblin ingenuity—or lack thereof. While some might pity the Goblin Dog for its miserable existence, any compassion quickly fades when they lunge out from the shadows, teeth gnashing and eyes alight with vicious intent. In the company of goblins, Goblin Dogs are even more dangerous, turning what might have been a simple skirmish into a chaotic frenzy of snapping jaws and flying arrows.

Basic Information

Ecology and Habitats

Goblin Dogs are typically found in dark, dank environments where goblins thrive, such as dense forests, abandoned ruins, or caves. These places are often far from civilization, as Goblin Dogs prefer to stay near their goblin masters, who shun larger settlements. Their nests are constructed in crude dens or burrows dug into the earth, lined with filth and scavenged debris. While capable of surviving in many environments, they prefer areas that offer easy concealment and ample opportunities to ambush unsuspecting prey or intruders.

Behaviour

Goblin Dogs are aggressive, territorial creatures, much like the goblins they serve. Highly loyal to their goblin masters, they act as both guards and hunters, quickly turning on anything perceived as a threat. Their behavior is erratic, with bouts of frantic energy followed by sluggish, lazy periods. Goblin Dogs are known to attack in packs, using their numbers to overwhelm opponents. However, despite their ferocity, they are cowardly when isolated, often retreating if their packmates fall in battle. Goblin Dogs are also infamous for carrying diseases and parasites, which makes them even more dangerous to adventurers.
