Ochre Jelly

A sickly yellow glow emanates from the depths as you cautiously peer into the cavern. Suddenly, a viscous mass of ochre gel surges forward, its translucent form pulsating with hungry anticipation. You realize too late that you've stumbled upon an Ochre Jelly's lair, its acidic embrace threatening to dissolve anything foolish enough to wander too close.

Basic Information

Ecology and Habitats

Ochre Jellies are commonly found in dark, damp environments such as underground caves, dungeons, and sewers. They thrive in areas with decaying organic matter and moisture, often lurking in hidden corners or beneath piles of debris. Their translucent, gelatinous bodies allow them to squeeze through narrow passages and crevices, making them adept hunters in their subterranean habitats.

Behaviour

Ochre Jellies are voracious predators, relying on their keen sense of vibration to detect potential prey. They are opportunistic hunters, lying in wait until unsuspecting creatures wander too close. When they sense movement, they quickly lunge forward, engulfing their victims with their amorphous bodies. Ochre Jellies possess acidic secretions that help dissolve their prey, making it easier for them to absorb nutrients. Despite their lack of intelligence, they exhibit a primitive form of cunning, often ambushing creatures in groups to overwhelm larger foes.
