Personal history

Toren Ironheart was born and raised in the heart of Stormreach, a city governed by the powerful Iron Council. His family lineage was deeply intertwined with the city's history, with generations of service in the city guard. From a young age, Toren's sense of duty and honor were cultivated through stories of his forebearers' heroic deeds and unwavering loyalty to the Iron Council.   As he matured, Toren followed in his family's footsteps and joined the ranks of the city guard. His natural leadership skills, unyielding dedication, and unwavering commitment to justice propelled him through the ranks, earning him the respect and trust of his comrades. However, the more Toren delved into the inner workings of the Iron Council, the more he became disillusioned with the very institution he had revered.   The Iron Council held the authority to grant "writs" — permissions to practice magic — to select individuals within the city. This power was intended to regulate and control magic use, ensuring its responsible application for the greater good. However, over time, Toren began to witness a disturbing trend: the writs were not solely granted on merit, but were often influenced by political maneuvering and personal gain. Corruption within the council allowed the wealthy and powerful to obtain these permissions, exploiting magic for personal agendas.   Toren's growing mistrust of the council's integrity was solidified when he discovered evidence of illicit dealings and the blatant sale of writs to the highest bidder. This realization sparked a fire within him to challenge the very system he had vowed to protect. With a group of like-minded individuals, Toren covertly established a faction committed to exposing the corruption within the council and advocating for genuine meritocracy in magic usage.   His determination to rid Stormreach of this rampant corruption led Toren to seek the elusive "verdant viper" and the blueish-green liquid with unique magical properties. He believed that controlling this resource would empower his faction to counteract the council's influence and restore justice to the allocation of writs. Toren's struggle against a system mired in greed, manipulation, and self-interest became a personal crusade, a quest for the redemption of his city and the honor of his family's legacy.
