Covert Infiltrator Profession in The Twilight Imperium (Genesys) | World Anvil

Covert Infiltrator

An infiltrator specializes in obtaining access to people and locations that are hidden or restricted. They might sneak inside places, avoiding sensors and sentries alike to gain access to a facility or eavesdrop on a conversation thought private. Alternatively, infiltrators might forge documents or wear a disguise to trick their target into opening secure areas for them. Most infiltrators specialize in one approach or the other, but the best can employ whichever technique best fits the situation. They sometimes even pose as diplomatic aides or security attachés to conceal their intentions and identity, even from their own teammates. Of course, gaining access is merely a means to an end—an end that might include assassination, intelligence or data collection, target extraction, or sabotage.

Infiltrators have nerves of steel and a natural ability to fade into the background of any group. Many have a military background in special forces or intelligence and are trained in special techniques for evading security and performing silent takedowns. Others might have worked outside the law, defeating pricey security systems to execute elaborate heists or assassinations. Either way, an infiltrator’s best weapon is secrecy—if caught, most get ruthlessly interrogated for however long they can justify being left alive.

The Keleres receives countless reports of illegal activity that falls within its jurisdiction. In situations where a powerful organization might conceal or cover up alleged wrongdoing given time, Covert Infiltrators can collect evidence without tipping off the suspect. Because of their particular talents, infiltrators are often the least trusted members of a team and the most difficult to properly supervise on top of it. They always seem to be disappearing off somewhere, and one can never be totally certain where their true loyalties lie.
