Orbital Drop Soldier
Military forces of the great powers across the galaxy employ soldiers of all kinds, but their best tend to be Orbital Drop Soldiers. Droppers, as they’re sometimes called, are skilled combatants, but they are also bright and resourceful, able to adapt to dynamic threats. As such, the Keleres is fond of adding Orbital Drop Soldiers, and others with similar traits or training, to their pool of Keleres agents.
Soldier culture and traditions vary from unit to unit, but most elite soldiers possess some level of arrogance. When they meet someone, they size them up and wonder if they could have completed the same elite training, or survived deadly battles, and they seem to find most beings who haven’t wanting. As such, it can take a long time for someone without similar experiences to earn an Orbital Drop Soldier’s trust or respect. However, once these are earned, the soldier is loyal to a fault.
Soldiers who find themselves assigned to the Keleres usually think of the posting as a dead-end or exile—most would give anything to get reassigned to a combat unit again. It is rare that a Keleres assignment involves an actual orbital drop, but the fearsome reputation of veteran soldiers can be an asset when dealing with some cultures that value military experience. Further, Keleres agents face lethal circumstances frequently, and the soldier adds some much-needed muscle to extractions under fire.
Still, many beings speculate that the real reason the Keleres recruits so many Orbital Drop Soldiers is that someone high up in the organization likes knowing they can assemble their own orbital drop battalion if they ever feel the need.
