Quann
The Quann crisis was the catalyzing event that incited the Twilight Wars, and the Quann Wormhole remains an important trade route. The planet Quann serves as a trade hub for traffic entering or emerging from the wormhole. Quann’s spaceports and space stations provide a wide range of preparation, stocking, and repair services for transiting ships. They also serve as convenient meeting places. Government oversight is light, and what little there is tends to be actively ignored or corrupt. That, combined with the large amount of traffic, has made Quann popular with legitimate traders and smugglers alike.
Quann itself is a terrestrial world with two continents and one ocean, and it shares Jord’s diversity of climates. It is largely self-sufficient, with ample food production and industrial facilities, much of the latter built during its colony days. The coastal capital city of Aruzoe is the primary trade center. It is also the best defended, with defense batteries and a squadron of corvettes that pull double duty as customs vessels. Far away in the southern polar regions, dozens of settlements and cities provide thinly veiled support for smugglers, black markets, and other less-than-legal operations.
Quann was once a colony of Sol, and it still has a majority-Human population. Although it is not currently a part of the Federation, it has signed several favorable treaties with Sol. Most beings assume that it is only a matter of time before the Federation makes Quann a tributary world aligned with Sol’s interests.
