Starpoint
The world of Starpoint is rich in valuable natural resources, as are its eight small moons. Its position along several major spacelanes makes it a prime departure point for expeditions leaving the Core Systems and venturing into the galactic rim. Unfortunately, the planet itself is miserably uninhabitable for most life-forms, as its chemical composition gives rise to deluges of acidic rain and highly toxic stormfronts. Only the simplest algae survive in the oceans, and the domed facilities planetside are streaked with corrosion and damage from the weather. Nobody visits for pleasure.
Starpoint’s moons are more hospitable. Even the five airless rocks don’t have weather trying to actively eat into their domed habitats, and the other three have thin atmospheres that have been augmented through limited terraforming attempts. Most of Starpoint’s permanent residents live on one of these moons, and the smallest of the airless planetoids is covered in starship construction facilities.
