Vefut II

Vefut II is an enormous terrestrial world with extremely high gravity. However, its abundant natural resources easily attracted beings willing to find ways to deal with the laws of nature. Instead of adapting to the gravity, the planet’s early population decided to change it instead. Vefut II became one of the galaxy’s leading antigrav tech developers.

Vefut II’s gravity compresses the atmosphere, making it unbearably thick in the lowlands and dangerously thin everywhere else. This forced the world’s cities underground, where antigrav projectors could adjust the gravity and the atmosphere could be artificially regulated. Redundant systems typically prevent catastrophic failures that could injure people or damage equipment, though accidents do happen. Portable generators are installed in ground and air vehicles, as well as in underground rail tunnels.

Vefut II exports vast amounts of natural resources in addition to substantial antigravity goods. The planet’s massive size and gravity require ships to use much more power than normal to achieve escape velocity. Ships that aren’t up to the task need to obtain special booster pods from the local government, which keeps most space travel within the official spaceport. There are dozens of ports around the world, the largest being above the capital city of Ferev.
