Archduke of Helonia
Ansure the Radiant, also known as the Light of Helonia and the Golden Paladin, is the Duke of Licornemais, one of the mighty Kingsguard and the Archduke of Helonia. He is renowned as a noble and just ruler. Fairness in all matters is his watchword, never allowing the law as written to compromise its noble intent, never refusing anyone a hearing in his presence to air grievances of which must be judged. Whenever the Archduke gets involved, justice is done. Somehow, the Archduke has halted the aging process, appearing to be much younger than his birth records belie. Many believe it is the Ancient King's favor.
History
Ansure took the Vow of the Kingsguard when he was still a young prince. He travelled for years across the realm of Helonia and into lands beyond, expelling evil from wherever it could be found. He had met with prophets and ghosts alike on his travels, survived battles against Dragons and Demons in his attempts to find the heir and rid Helonia of many a rampaging monster. Despite these achievements, however, Ansureknew that the Court of Licornemais cared not for hollow boasts and neither did he. It was all for the glory of the Ancient King, yet he still needed some proof of his achivements to show the dukes if he ever wished to succeed his father. Ansure returned to Licornemais seven years after his quest had begun. The young knight was so scarred and filthy from his battles that at first his father's Men-at-Arms mistook him for a fellow peasant. That was until they saw the head of a Pit Fiend being dragged behind his horse. Ansure was officially crowned in the year 3679 AM, having ascended to the throne following a unanimous vote of his peers and with the consent of the Hierarch of the Arcane. By then he was said to be over 50 years old, yet he still appeared to be in the prime of his life. Commoners and nobles alike spoke of Ansure with reverence, likening him to the mighty Guardians of the Helots from ages past. Highly skilled on the field of battle and a master of tactics and strategy, he had never known defeat. During his reign he also been blessed with the companionship of a Unicorn, a sign of true purity and valor.
