Constitutional State Academy
The Constitutional State Academy in Ponvarus is the city's oldest university. Originally intended for aspiring government bureaucrats, the Academy grew in scope during the centuries, and now encompasses dozens of faculties and thousands of students and employees. Its position as a state-funded university was rescinded by the Azure Conventus after pressure from the
Seven Families in 2451 AM, though it maintains its independence by attracting wealthy, and often foreign, sponsors, as well as having quite hefty fees for attendance. Still, most of its graduates tend to gravitate towards employment in the republican administration or other non-Septemvirate-affiliated organisations, owing to a bitter rivalry between the student associations and the Seven Families.
Structure
The Academy's central organisation is directed by the Vigintisexvirate, or 'the Council of Twenty-Six,' where the August Prefect effectively serves as their leader. Each School is overseen by its own Scholastic College, who are led by Provosts, and each faculty has its own Advisory Board, who are headed by Rectors. All positions on the Academy's various councils are elective, in the spirit of the new values generated by the transition towards a republican government. In addition to the normal administrative positions, there are several student associations who organise events, hazing rituals, and other idiosyncratic academic traditions.

The Academy no longer has a School of Magic due to lack of attendance. Those who wish to study magic instead opt for
Sa'resteece or Nova Aera, who have vastly superior institutions in that area.
Student Associations
There are seven student associations at the Academy, formally known as les cercles scolaires in Frankonian. They correspond to the capital's arrondissements, and they organise everything from tavern crawls to grandiose galas; also, due to a longstanding rivalry with the Septemvirate families (due to frequent attempts to abolish the Academy in favour of the dynasties' own educational programmes), they also conduct a little corporate espionage for those daring enough to take the risks associated with such an enterprise. Of course, the associations deny all involvement, but the Seven Families are lucid enough to organise their own clandestine raids against the scholastic circles.
Below are the student associations. They are normally identified by a shorthand of the actual name, shown in parentheses. The formal name, which is seldomly used, of each association is Scholastic Circle of X Arrondissement.
