Session 10: Old and New Memories

General Summary

As Kazagal got the shaken Nakor to his feet in the Aeryonian kings dining hall, Dormaruk managed to talk the queen into following him and the group out of the castle and away from the king. Meanwhile, Frances had managed to gather most of her company. Nakor, as he rose to his feet, began to talk about himself as a royal again. His memories had returned, but this meant that the personality the party had known as Nakor now became jumbled with over a hundred years of memories. This left the prince unsure of himself. Frances then ordered her soldiers to gather evidence of the events that had transpired, but just as they were about to begin they saw the king disappear behind a curtain. Just at that moment the current Sergeant of Frances old company Gunter entered and told them that he had gathered the company, but that the other company, still bound to the king since no other contract had been signed, had given them 5 minutes to leave the castle as a show of good favour between fellow members of the Grand Company.    The party swiftly left the castle and went straight to the Frankonian trading office, accompanied by 15 soldiers and the queen dressed only in her nightgown. As the group entered the office and explained the situation, the flustered and shocked Rapopoux was at a loss for words. This was truly a situation beyond repair and the party decided that they would have to leave. Monsieur Rapopoux told them that he had to leave as little a trail of their cooperation as possible, given the violent nature of the prince and kings encounter. Thus he agreed to provide funding for a ship, nothing less, nothing more. Dormaruk knew a rich trader in the city who may have a ship they could purchase and decided to take the frightened queen and Frances with him. Nakor and Kazagal would check for ships down by the docks, as well as keep an eye out for the Pitched Wanker. The soldiers stayed by the office.   Nakor and Kazagal quickly made their way down to the docks and became witnesses to what looked like a funeral next to a beautiful ship with blue sails and a magical mermaid figurehead. Upon further investigation, they found out that the ship, which was packed and ready to leave, had lost its captain to an illness during the day. They also found out that the first mate of the ship was Merturrok, a distant cousin of Dormaruk. They told him of their mutual acquaintance and found out that the crew was going to the Sour Barracuda for the night. The two then walked along the docks in search of the Pitched Wanker, to no avail. Nakor decided to return to the square outside the tavern in wait for Dormaruk and Frances. Kazagal on the other hand told him that he had business that he had to deal with in the Deep Market. They split up.   In the meantime, Dormaruk and Frances, along with the queen, arrived at the home of the elven merchant Aerya. When she opened up she looked flustered until she saw the familiar face of Dormaruk. He explained the situation and asked for her help. She then explained that Captain Grace of the Swift Mermaid had died during the day and that she now had half a crew and a loaded ship, with a cancelled return trip due to the delay. In the end, Dormaruk managed to purchase that ship on the terms that Aeryas son Ary would accompany them on the planned trip to Ponvarus in Frankonia. He would then gather the profits and make his own way home. They then parted, agreeing that she would deal with the matter of payment for the ship directly with Monsieur Rapopoux.    Kazagal had made it to the Deep Market and walked up the closed alchemist shop of Hera Vagolvath. He knocked hard and after a while, the tired triton opened up. He then slowly and convolutedly cancelled his order of a memory restorative potion. The angered triton simply slammed the door and told him to fuck off. He did so and headed back to the Barracuda.    Meanwhile, Nakor met up with Dormaruk, Frances and the queen. Frances then sent the queen with Frances company as they headed down to secure their new ship. The three, as well as one of Frances soldiers, named Matz Schneiderman, then entered the tavern. Dormaruk instantly noticed the crew of his new ship, which consisted entirely of former contacts of his, as well as a relative. He explained that he was their new captain and that they now had to drink up as they were heading out ASAP, to no ones protest. He then looked around the bar and saw some other familiar faces. He managed to enlist another four crewmembers, ready to leave at a moments notice. As the four exited along with their new crew, they met up with Ary and Kazagal. Thus they now ready to leave Zarastil.    As the new crew of the Swift Mermaid finished preparing for departure, a call was heard. Captain Magrom of the Folksguard, along with 50 of the town's guards were now pointing crossbows at the ship and demanding Nakor. On Dormaruks orders, Ary, who was adept with magic, created a fog cloud between them and the folksguards shielding them from their view. The guards opened fire and shot three of the crew members, harming them. Two of these, maddened by anger and adrenaline returned fire with a firebolt each, much to Frances dismay. These shot true seemingly killed two of the folksguards. They then left the docks with a blank salvo from the canons. They left the shores of Aeryon behind and headed to Frankonia.    After leaving the busy shores behind they took some time to discuss their further plans for the organization on the ship as they now were commanding an entire crew on their very own ship.
