Session 7: The Forge Heist
General Summary
After being left by the countess chamberlain in the blessed forge of Brandenheim inside of the citadel of smoke, the party begins to rethink their strategy of warning the countess of Lazarus quest. Instead, knowing that the shard resides inside of the great furnace thanks to Panders magical detection, they deside that the safest option would most likely be to take the shard for themselves. After Ushrir did some questioning regarding the nature of the furnace from one of the workers, releavling that it was constructed during the dawn of the empire by the dwarves, they decided that Pander would be the one to do the deed.
The rest of the party quietly and subtly made their way out of the forge and then the citadel. Then the bard went to buisness, sneaking up to the opning of the forge just as the workers took out what was about to be a cannon. Looking into the forge with magical sight he could tell that the shard looked more like a small rock, about as large as the palm of his hand. It was however surrounded by other, bigger, oval rocks that seemed to generate heat at an incredible rate. Conjuring a magical hand, Pander reached into the forge and grabbed the incredibly hot rock, preparing his magical bag as it came closer to him. Swiftly he pulled it out of the forge and into his bag. He then turned himself invisible and snuck out of the citadel.
The group met back up in the tavern, the Smoking Barrel, where Pander was for once applauded for his efforts. They swiftly packed up and left the city, despite it being so late in the evening. They made it some way out of the city, to the top of a hill overlooking the plane with the city. There they camped out for the night. The next day they noticed a decrese in the smoke coming from the citadel. Not wishing to stay around for long, they left for Hexenberg to search for the next shard.
After a few days of travel, where they met a strange salesman that sold Pander a few religous amulets with no other properties despite being advertised as such. They also encountered a group of bandits, that Jerrycoy spooked by turning into a dire-wolf to the point where Pander managed to intimidiate them out of both their money and their pants. When they finally arrived in Hexenberg, they saw the massive mountain wall behind the town-proper that was covered in towers and buildings carved directly into the mountain that made out the magical school that gave the town its name.
The party took refuge in a more shady tavern named the Smiling Cup, where they met up with a strange woman rambling strange incoherencies. They also met a pair of youngsters that seemed on edge and after stalking them a bit, Pander found that they had done something horrible and where afraid of getting caught. The bard snuck into their room and took a spellbook, before leaving a note urging them to repent. They immediatly left the town. Now the search for the next shard begins, whilst other mysteries also might be solved.
