Society of the Red Mask
The Society of the Red Mask is an Akkonian actors' and entertainment guild in Akk-Ur. It was based in Cresthall, a relatively new theatre sponsored by the Winterdove family, located in the Summer's Gate district. A reputable organisation, the Red Masks' diverse portfolio of talent was highly sought-after by the Akkonian ad-kure nobility. Their leader was Astalon Brown, the Director of the Evolving Masquerade.
The Red Masks vanished once again without a trace on the 16th of Resting in 1304 AM.
Structure
The Society is divided into a multitude of Troupes, each responsible for one or a number of similar styles and themes: for example, Michelle's Gold Star Troupe handles the spectacle of song and opera. The person in charge of each Troupe, the Writer-Curator, generally decides on which material to use in addition to producing new content themselves. There is little crossover between the individual Troupes and actors are encouraged to compete with one another, but this is mostly an internal matter of prestige and progression of talent. The Director of the Evolving Masquerade leads the Red Masks, though this position of seniority mostly means that they have to garner and maintain support from the royal nobility.
Assets
The Red Masks was an affluent organisation patronised by the ad-kure nobility. As a result, they are afforded privileges and connections far beyond the numerous street-level entertainment guilds of Akk-Ur. This can be identified in their usage of obscenely-high wages: 10 gold crowns was the baseline for all prospects, regardless of role.
