The Hierarch

His Holiness Tenebrae IX

The Hierarch is the ecclesiastical head of the Empire-Church and one of the most powerful figures in Draecovia; they have the final say in all religious matters and interpretation of the faith. Their seat is in the Sacred Palace of Saint Alexander in Adergaard, where the College of Electors Spiritual convene to choose a new Hierarch.

When a Hierarch is elected, they forsake all aspects of their previous self. A regnal name is assigned to them, and they are forbidden to show their face to anyone; they become the temporal embodiment of the Church. The current Hierarch is styled Tenebrae IX.
