Saava

Originating from the jungles of Kerijaan, the Saava bean grew natually across much of eastern Outland. Shortly after the Starfall, it was discovered that the bean could be brewed into a black and bitter beverage that served as both refreshment and stimulant. The Kerijaani quickly became addicted to the substance that grew in their jungles, and began trading their crop across Outand.

The drink became sought after by kings and beggars alike, and the crop was quickly spread and cultivated by farmers across Outland's islands and tropical regions. Saava was drank by the common man as a utility, the wealthy as a pleasure, and guzzled by armies to keep them marching for days on end.

The stimulating power of the crop is so strong, it illicits some form of dependency or addictive reaction in almost all who consume it. While addictive symptoms are tempered when consuming the Saava beverage, various other, more potent, forms of the crop are consumed by those seeking a more extreme or pleasurable experience.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The beverage known as Saava is created in a variety of ways, most involving the firing and straining of the beans. When consumed, the beverage replenishes energy and increases alertness. The drink can prove incredibly addictive when overconsumed and a dependency on Saava could be developed.

Saava has been used to fuel entire armies, allowing them to march for many days without rest.

History

The Saava bean was first discovered growing in the jungles of Kerijaan in 339 AC, though it was not first brewed into a drink until around 400 AC.
