The Elves of old are much more rare these days, most of their bloodlines bred into obscurity. The one sure thing to indicate the possibility of elven kin is having squared earlobes, free or partially attached, but this does not prove so for sure. Other common traits are ectomorphic bodies, green, gold, grey, or blue eyes, and extremely straight hair. Most unaligned elves spend their lives feeling like "children at heart", not knowing that in the eyes of an aligned Elvar ...they very much are children.
Aligning as an Elvar opens the conduit, and with it restoration properties of the body that lay dormant. This expands the lifespan of an Aligned Elvar to between 600 and 900 years, and changes their vision to see in the dark. It sharpens their senses, gives them some very slight, but still significant mental defenses, and removes their need for sleep. Their bodies become lighter and more toned and naturally dexterous.
Aligned Elvar
Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 2. Your Wisdom score increases by 1.
Age. Most Aligned Elvar spent the first portion of their lives expecting a natural human lifespan. Upon learning of their new longevity, they tend to slow down and take their time with life. An Elvar typically claims adulthood and an adult name around the age of 100 and can live to be between 600 and 900 years old.
Size. Elvar range from under 5 to over 6 feet tall and have slender builds. Your size is Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 35 feet.
Darkvision. Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Keen Senses. You have proficiency in the Perception skill.
Elvar Ancestry. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.
Trance. Elvar don’t need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The English word for such meditation is “trance.”) While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.
Languages You can speak read and write common and Elvar. Elvar is fluid, with subtle intonations and intricate grammar. Elvar literature is rich and varied, and their songs and poems are famous among other races. It is intrinsic to Elvar blood, and upon alignment you gain fluency instantly.
Elvar Magic. You know the dancing lights cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the faerie fire spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. When you reach 5th level, you can cast the darkness spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
