Protean Godhood

What is achieved when attuned to a Protean Mantel. Each artifact gives its user different powers depending on the unique properties of the mantel, and each mantel requires different rituals to achieve attunement, but a few things are universal. 
First off, the attuned achieves a state of biological immortality, making them what is known as a Biomortal.

The second is that when one attunes to the mantel, they leave their mortal body behind as payment to the artifact. Protean energy was used to create the mortals, and that energy is the cost to power the mantel. In many ways, attuning to a mantel is much less uses it as much as it is becoming it.
