The Soulbreaker was created to govern over terror and desperation, the aspects that The Proteans instilled in all mortals as a means of safety and survival. Without terror, the mortals would not be able to know when to fight and when to run. Without desperation, they would not know how to persevere in the harsh beauty of The Divine Architecture.
The Mantel of the Soulbreaker is a Protean artifact that is shaped like a tree split in two as if it were struck by lightning.
