Cosmology
Cosmology is the study of the cosmos, or the universe. Cosmological explanations are littered through science, philosophy and wizardry. There are competing theories about how the cosmos is ordered, and where we sit within that order. What most cosmic theorists can agree on is two things. First, that our plane of existence is material, bound by the laws of nature. And second, that there are other planes that exist beyond ours, incomprehensible to our understanding of reality.
Renowned Master of the Starry College, Elder Quintus, recorded his theories in Observations of the Cosmic Threads.

"History and mythology are most peculiarly in agreement that our world was once one of chaos. We refer to this time as the Age of Dust... when light, darkness, order and disorder were one. I have charted a course through the annals of our ancestors to conclude that as the eons have progressed our plane has become more solid in its boundaries.
I speculate that the fabrics which separate our plane from ether and hell have tightened over time. Where there are loose threads in the fabric we see the smaller magics slip through to our world - a mage summoning fire from air, a warg speaking into the mind of a beast, the cursed hearing the whispers of a long-buried titan. But the larger tears in the fabric have been stitched together, and it is for this reason that humans have come to rule the world."
