In the East lay lands that were once the border of a fierce war between the races of men and goblinkind. Both sides lost much and the hostilities ended in unspectacular and simultaneous retreats from the contested area. The causes for the mutual abandonment are known only to a select few leaders now aging or dead.
Now only a select few settlements exist in this wilderness where resources or travel lines were too rich or valuable to leave behind. Without the armies of former days to protect the towns, the citizens turn to personally powerful individuals such as adventurers or bandit gangs for safety - often at high costs.
