Intra-System Communication
Intra-System Communication is still a work in progress throughout the galaxy. There has never been an effective way to have secure faster-than-light communication between the vast distances from solar systems. Attempts at Relay Pylons are in effect in certain locations in the Core, though they are proving to be a costly venture.
As such, Broadcast Ships are still the galactic standard. Anyone, whether a person or an organization, with information to send between systems will pay a Broadcast Ship. Those ships typically offer secure and "less secure" storage options for videos, recordings, etc. Those ships will jump from system to system delivering their payload (and retrieving more messages). Whenever a ship enters the system, the local Broadcast Pylons download their news, advertisements, and personal messages into the Broadcast Relays which are then accessible throughout the system (per the message type).
Most of this happens behind the scenes. Organizations have continuous contracts with specific companies or ships (or their own if they can afford it) and individuals either pay a corporation directly or have the costs included in their local taxes. In the Core, it is only rare cases or in areas like the Rim to have the standard still be to have to directly contact a ship or corporation for an information transition. Most people simply go about their day, notice that their datapad or message resource has new information for them, and check/respond to it.
